Castledyke Primary School, North Lincolnshire
What did the school want to achieve?
In June 2024, we visited Castledyke Primary School in Barton-upon-Humber, North Lincolnshire. The school wanted to create a space that their pupils could be proud of, a space that inspires them to be active and encourages them to play. The school found that their pupils were becoming less able to ‘play’ properly together, so wanted to improve the playground in order to focus a new ethos around play.
How did we help them achieve their desired outcome?
We worked closely with Castledyke Primary School to create a playground that encouraged children of all ages to play both individually and collaboratively. We installed a variety of playground markings and games including, Dance with Me, 4-Way Target, Outline Jump Game, Mr Wolf and a Mile a Day Race Track.
We only encountered one logistical issue, the positioning of a drain that ran across the playground, however, this was easily resolved in the design meeting.
Our comments on the finished playground
We loved working with Castledyke Primary School to create their dream playground. From the initial consultation to the final installation, our team was dedicated to understanding their vision and making it a reality. We designed a playground filled with a variety of fun games and activities, all aimed at encouraging play and physical activity.
Testimonial from the school
“We are over the moon with the work that Fun & Active have done at Castledyke. Every aspect of the process has been easy and we’ve felt really well supported throughout. From our initial contact and discussions, the design meeting and finalisation, through to the actual installation, we couldn’t have been happier with the process.
“The design meeting really opened our eyes to what was possible and allowed us to visualise what it would look like, along with tweaking ideas, rather than just taking designs directly from the brochure. When we need more markings in the future, Fun & Active will 100% be our first stop!
“Just want to say a big thank you to everyone at Fun & Active for getting us to this point as it’s made a huge difference. Seeing the children enjoying the markings so much during lunchtimes has been brilliant. We’ll definitely be recommending you to others.”
