Gossops Green Primary School, West Sussex
What did the school want to achieve?
In May 2025, Fun & Active Playgrounds visited Gossops Green Primary School in Crawley, West Sussex. The school wanted to make the playground more interesting and stimulating, encouraging more active and focused play. They also wanted a section marked off that could be easily adapted to suit their ‘Craze of the Week’, a playground strategy where new games or activities are introduced to children weekly, the school chose the dribble cones for this area.
How did we help them achieve their desired outcome? Were there any problems, and how did we overcome them?
We began by hosting a Virtual Survey with Gossops Green Primary School to explore their specific requirements, available budget and any potential concerns regarding the installation process. During the session, we also worked together to plan the ideal positioning for their new playground markings.
We installed a custom Active Trail, Solid Hopscotch, Custom Phonics Shapes, Snakes & Ladders, Learning Clock and Dance with Me. We also installed a Custom Widgit Circuit, making the playground accessible for all of their pupils. Widgit Symbols support communication and learning by using clear visuals to make information more accessible. Ideal for inclusive environments, they’re especially helpful for children with autism, learning disabilities, or speech impairments.
On the day of install, our team worked efficiently, ensuring minimal disruption to playtimes and school drop-offs and pick-ups.

Our comments on the finished playground
We loved working with Gossops Green Primary School to transform their outdoor space into a more engaging and stimulating environment. The new playground markings were designed to encourage active, imaginative and focused play, helping the school achieve its goal of creating a vibrant space that supports both physical activity and learning through play.
Testimonial from the school
I would definitely recommend you – all staff involved with planning were excellent and nothing was too much trouble. The two men who installed were amazing and planned around our break times etc to stay out of the children’s way. There were very helpful and did a great job.
The only issue is the spelling of one of the phonics digraphs (but this was my typo). It is expensive to replace, mostly due to transport costs so we’re hoping that they’ll be able to fit it in some time if they are working near this area.
We would like some new markings on the KS2 playground at a later date and would definitely be using you again (when we can raise some more money)!
