Grove Academy, Berkshire
What did the school want to achieve?
Back in January 2024, Fun & Active Playgrounds visited Grove Academy in Slough. The school is relatively new, they moved into a new building during the pandemic. However, despite the state-of-the-art building and facilities, the bare looking site could have easily been mistaken for any other type of business environment and there was nothing of interest in the playground for the students. The school was looking for colourful and interesting activities to add to the playground in order to brighten up the space and create an engaging environment.
How did we help them achieve their desired outcome? Were there any problems, and how did we overcome them?
We worked closely with the school to get a deep understanding of their requirements and to select the best playground markings for meeting their objectives. We installed a skeleton, a bespoke UK map, rainbow pathways, a custom zebra crossing and welcome rainbow, plus a bespoke welcome sign that outlined the school’s values.
We encountered a couple of problems with the rainbow pathways; the design included custom paint elements and unfortunately our software did not allow for us to draw the curves as the school required. We worked with the school on the day to ensure that the painted lines were applied to the schools requirements and so they allowed for enough room for the games to be installed.
Our comments on the finished playground
We loved working with Grove Academy. It’s amazing to see how the school, once a blank canvas, has now become a vibrant and engaging environment for the students to enjoy. The new bespoke playground markings have truly brought this space to life.
Testimonial from the school
“The installation was very well received by the whole school community and it has been a pleasure to see so many students and staff engaging with the games. Our playground is now a bright, colourful and cheerful space. We would welcome an opportunity to work with yourselves again and would be happy to recommend your services to others.”
