What did the school want to achieve?
Llanllechid Primary School in Gwynedd, Wales wanted to revitalise their outdoor space and create a more engaging, visually appealing playground for their pupils. The aim was to introduce a wider variety of activities that would encourage active play, social interaction, and enjoyment during break times.
With a focus on maximising value as well as impact, the school chose the Platinum Sports Package (in Welsh language) to take advantage of the cost savings while delivering a broad mix of thermoplastic markings across their playground.
How did we help them achieve their desired outcome?
To support the school’s vision, our team worked closely with them to design a layout that maximised both space and variety, ensuring pupils of all ages had something engaging to enjoy. By selecting the Platinum Sports Package, the school was able to introduce a broad and carefully balanced mix of thermoplastic playground markings that combine play, learning, and physical activity.
A key part of the design was creating high-energy play opportunities to keep breaktimes active and enjoyable. We installed a range of popular playground games:

Alongside this, the school wanted to strengthen links between outdoor play and classroom learning. To support this, a variety of curriculum-focused markings were introduced:
These features allow teachers to take lessons outside, supporting subjects such as maths, English, and geography in a more interactive and memorable way. For example, number-based markings encourage active numeracy practice, while the Map of Wales and Compass Clock help bring geography lessons to life in a practical setting.
To further enhance physical development, the playground also includes a strong selection of fitness and movement-based activities:
These additions promote daily exercise and help improve co-ordination, balance, and overall fitness. They are also ideal for structured PE sessions as well as free play, giving staff flexibility in how the space is used throughout the school day.
By combining imaginative games, educational content, and physical challenges, the final design ensures the playground supports multiple uses without feeling overcrowded. The layout flows naturally, allowing pupils to move easily between activities and stay engaged for longer periods.
Our installation team completed the project efficiently, ensuring a smooth process from design through to completion. The end result was a transformed outdoor area that feels both purposeful and full of energy.
