St John’s CE Primary School, Hampshire
What did the school want to achieve?
The site manager of the school, David, contacted us as he wanted to create a fun and active playground. They wanted to extend and enhance the children’s physical play opportunities and inspire with education markings whilst keeping to a budget.
How did we help them achieve their desired outcome? Were there any problems, and how did we overcome them?
Before our development, the schools existing markings had a worn away giving a very tired look which was no longer challenging or stimulating for the children. To overcome this problem, we applied an extremely bright Methyl Methacrylate paint to the surface to act as a background. We then installed a colourful 1-20 caterpillar to assist with the children’s math skills.
Our comments on the finished playground
We’ve installed an amazing selection of playground markings for St John’s CE Primary, located in Gosport, to help them promote active play and help with their education. The reception area has a huge variety of markings providing lots of different activities, from whizzing around the roadway learning lots of key road safety, to hopping down their 1-20 caterpillar improving their maths skills.
Before our development, the KS1 and KS2 playgrounds had become a very tired space for the children to play in. We developed this space to enhance the children’s playtime and improve physical health. St John’s had an existing running track that ran the perimeter of the playground which was still in excellent condition. To help improve the children’s physical health we developed this track into a daily mile using our amazing Mile a Day logo. We also developed the area to include some sports-based markings to improve the children’s P.E lessons and allow the children to play their favourite sports at lunchtimes.
Both play spaces have created energising zones where imaginative play is facilitated and physical skills are developed. We have helped encourage the primary-aged children to participate in sporting activities, develop their sporting skills, fundamental movement skills, physical fitness and their love of sport.
Testimonial from the school
“During the site survey Fun & Active provided lots of ideas that we hadn’t thought of making area look more uniform and utilising the space better.”
“Fun & Active have greatly enhanced our playground. The area was blank with no structure for playtimes, now it’s a vibrant area with designated zones for the children to play in.”
“We have no hesitation in recommending Fun & Active Playgrounds they worked with us the entire way with excellent communication. The prices as specified and overall very easy company to work with.”
