St. Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, Kent
What did the school want to achieve?
In January 2020, St. Joseph’s Catholic Primary School formed a new PTFA. Their first point of call was to find out what their parents and children wanted to improve at the school. From this they agreed that the KS1 playground should be developed. It was PTFA Vice-chair, Sara, who took on the role of finding a new, fun, equipment-free solution and came across Fun & Active.
How did we help them achieve their desired outcome? Were there any problems, and how did we overcome them?
After sending Sara one of our product brochures, we arranged a date to visit the school and discuss what playground markings the PTFA wanted. Our playground marking specialist, Connor, answered any questions Sara had and gave advice on what markings were best to use in order for them to make the most of their available space. We took a drone image of the site for us to use in the playground plans proposal, which was sent across to Sara within a couple of days. This enabled Sara and the PTFA to see exactly what their new playground would look like. Games chosen included a Custom Trail, Jump game, Mirror Me, Footprints, Mr. Wolf, and Hopscotch.
A challenge presented itself when, only a couple of weeks later, the schools had to close due to the coronavirus. Without knowing when they could book a date for installation, or if they would have the funds to afford the project without being able to fundraise, the works were temporarily put on hold. We worked closely with the PTFA to overcome this and the school agreed to allow installation to take place over a weekend several months later. We honoured the original price from the quotation so there were no extra costs to the school in these unexpected circumstances.
Our comments on the finished playground
We’re so pleased with the finished look of the playground at St. Joseph’s Catholic Primary School! The PTFA chose a lovely range of playground markings to enhance the children’s playtimes. The custom trail is great for encouraging physical activity whilst turning on children’s imaginations. Plus, the games chosen will help to develop co-operation and memory skills. A great improvement to the KS1 playground overall and we hope the children have lots of fun learning and playing outdoors for years to come.
Testimonial from the school
We are so glad we decided to work with Fun and Active. They are a fantastic company who deliver excellent customer service from start to finish. The floor markings are bright and attractive and the children have loved playing on them. We look forward to working with you again in the future.
