Turning the Entrance into Something Special

Fun & Active Playgrounds, Peagreen and Hampshire Cultural Trust joined forces to create a bold public art feature right at The Arc’s entrance in Winchester. This wasn’t just about decoration, they wanted to turn the arts centre’s ordinary walkway into a lively, welcoming spot. Something that looked creative and really set the mood for visitors as soon as they arrived.

A Clear Brief with Lasting Impact

The Arc wanted an engaging entrance feature that would:

• Feel true to its artistic and cultural vibe
• Catch the eye of people passing by
• Handle lots of foot traffic every day
• Stay visually striking no matter the weather

So, the challenge was clear: use an artist-led design and make it work as a tough, large-scale installation without losing impact.

   

Design That Reflects Identity

Peagreen, a Winchester-based studio known for textile and pattern design, came up with a bespoke pattern that echoed The Arc’s branding and creative energy. The design had to stand out but also work with the layout at the entrance.

To pull this off, Peagreen selected our preformed thermoplastic as the ideal material.
