What is thermoplastic?
Thermoplastic is a plastic polymer material which can be used for many things due to its versatility. When heated, thermoplastic becomes softer, making it easy to manipulate. When it’s cooled, the material hardens, keeping its shape and offering durability.

Examples of thermoplastic and what it is used for
Thermoplastic examples include acrylic, nylon, polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, PVC, and PTFE. Many of these materials can be found in everyday households items as well as being used in other industries.
Preformed thermoplastic is an extremely good material for car park lines and road markings simply because of its anti-slip properties and its long-lasting finish.
Thermoplastic vs Paint
An added bonus of thermoplastic is that it has a high UV resistance meaning its colours will stay bright and won’t fade unlike painted markings. Preformed thermoplastic is also much more durable and weather-proof compared to paint. Markings made from thermoplastic are extremely hardwearing which makes them great for high footfall and high traffic areas. They won’t chip, or flake away!
When you choose to use traditional paint for your markings, you are also choosing to have to repaint them every year or two. However, when you invest in our thermoplastic playground markings, they are guaranteed to last at least 4 years, although it is likely they will last for many more. Check out the difference below!
Our preformed thermoplastic material
We constantly strive to provide the highest quality thermoplastic markings to infant and primary schools, nurseries, corporate organisations, councils, and other sectors.
Our thermoplastic material has a slip-resistant value of 65 and has a built-in glass bead that’s sinks through the material when heated. This means it will be anti-slip throughout its whole lifetime. As thermoplastic markings can be used almost straight away, when installing, we sprinkle on a little extra crushed glass for initial slip resistance.
