Tree Planting
We care about protecting our planet
We’re the first and only UK playground marking company to commit to offsetting our carbon footprint and we aim to be carbon neutral by 2022.
With the help of Carbon Footprint, for every playground we transform or project we complete, we will donate trees to be planted at schools across the country. What’s more, we’re helping to fund an important Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) approved project in Brazil to prevent deforestation in the Amazon Rainforest. The Amazon is the largest remaining rainforest in the world, known for its amazing biodiversity; containing at least 10% of all species – many of them endangered.
For each tree planted here in the UK, a tonne of carbon will be saved in the Amazon Rainforest through the Cikel Brazillian Amazon REDD APD (Avoiding Planned Deforestation) Project.
As a business, we have carefully calculated our annual CO2 emissions and the amount we need to offset each year. Whilst we know the scale of change needed to reverse the damage to our planet is huge, we’re pleased that we can make our first steps towards operating more sustainably.
Apply for trees to plant at your school
Planting trees at your school has a host of educational and environmental benefits. As well as developing the grounds and improving the air quality, tree planting can provide a fun, hands-on activity for your pupils! Getting children to participate will help to:
- provide education on the importance of protecting wildlife habitats and biodiversity
- raise awareness of different environmental challenges our planet is currently facing
- inspire care for the natural world
- assist with school subjects such as science
- contribute to team-building and social skills
The trees that are donated are just 1 year old and are between 40-80cm tall – very easy for children to handle. Plus, they are supplied with canes to help them grow straight, and biodegradable guard spirals to protect them whilst they’re young. A lot of the tree species are suitable for hedges which can make for great borders around playing fields or along fencing. Under the wise and watchful eyes of their teachers, pupils will be green-fingered in no time.
Trees are supplied in multiples of 10 per species, including Hawthorn, Sessile Oak, Hazel, Downy Birch, Guelder Rose, Field Maple, Rowan, English Oak, Blackthorn, Wild Cherry – all native to the UK.
If you would like to get your students involved, you can apply for trees to plant at your school, at no cost to you. Simply register your interest with us below.
