By now we’ve all read more than a handful of articles on the Sports Premium, what the entitlements are, how it is intended to be spent, and what you must do with it. We’ve read them, but did they really make any sense? We all know the sports funding is a massive help, and an amazing thing from the government, but it can be really daunting when it comes to using it.
I’m sure we all know how the funding works, but here’s a quick recap just in case
Whatever you buy must make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of PE, physical activity and sports that you offer.
You must build capacity and capability within the school to ensure that improvements made now will benefit children in future years
It must bring a broader experience of a range of sports and activities offered to all pupils
33% Of children in year 6 alone are overweight, so we know we need the funding; The decision as to what to do with the funding is more difficult than the thought of doing something. How should we spend it? What do we actually need? Will this benefit us? What will the children actually use? There are so many questions that surround this funding, we understand that it can be a really confusing time. But fear not, we’re here to help!
There are many things you can do with the funding, but the most cost effective and sustainable is playground markings. Thermoplastic markings are sustainable, durable and last longer than paint. While saving you the time, money and back ache of repainting every year. Due to longevity our markings prove to be more cost effective than hiring costly and short term sports coaches. Especially considered in the long run, linking back to the stipulation “you must build capacity and capability within the school to ensure that improvements made now will benefit children in future years.” What is more beneficial to future years than something that lasts ten years?
