Playground Markings in Middlesex
What are playground markings?
Playground markings are preformed thermoplastic designs, lines or symbols that are placed upon tarmac or concrete and are used for education and entertainment. They are usually brightly coloured (ours come in 18 bright colours) and are fantastic for keeping children engaged in your Middlesex playground.
Why are playground markings vital for playgrounds?
Creates a safer environment
Playgrounds are often busy during breaktimes and it is important to allow children to let off steam but not all children will want to run around. By providing tracks, courts and other areas for children to run around, you reduce the risk of accidents between active and non-active groups, as well as different games. You can also use playground markings to show children areas that are off limits or where they should line up at the end of breaktime or for fire assemblies.
Provides opportunities for active lifestyles
Keeping active is one of the best ways to maintain a good level of health. Starting when children are young is a great way of establishing and continuing good habits. According to MiddlesexHealth.org, ‘treating and preventing childhood obesity helps protect your child’s health now and in the future’. Obesity can lead to health complications later in life, including diabetes and heart disease, and with one in five children between 10 and 11 years old classed as obese nationwide, it’s important to take steps now.
There are other benefits to an active lifestyle, including learning new skills, improving teamwork, stronger muscles and a healthy heart and lungs.
Improves mental health
Taking a break from work is a simple way to improve their mental health and lower stress levels, regardless of whether it’s nearly time for that big exam or a new list of spellings. That little break will help to allow their brains to absorb all that knowledge and work things out. There’s also the benefits of fresh air and exercise, which release cortisol to help reduce stress, as well as producing those feel good hormones and reduce the tiredness that will help them sleep at night.
Some of our amazing playground markings that will improve your playground
A variety goes a long way
A variety of different activities in a playground is important so that you have the right balance of educational and recreational activities to keep your students engaged. You will also need to take into account the ages of the students so that the markings are appropriate for them – but we can help guide you in this matter. We worked with a primary school in Middlesex to give their students more opportunities to be active during the day, with the help of our Mile a Day, 4-way Twin Hopscotch and Dance with Me markings.
Markings for younger children
You can make learning fun with our Compass Clock markings, Jurassic Phonics and World Map. Don’t forget to include a few games though, like Duck, Duck, Goose, Build Your Own Trail and our Roadways. These will really brighten up your playground and help your children to absorb all that important information.
Older children would love these
Older children will be better served with lots of physical activities to de-stress from their exams, like our circuit training or long jump and don’t forget classic playground activities like football, basketball and tennis, which you could combine into one court to save some space. We also offer games like King Square and chess that they may enjoy.
We’d love to help you make the most of your Middlesex playground, so get in touch with us today and let’s create something amazing for your students. If you have something a little different in mind, we can work together to create something bespoke.
We previously installed playground markings for a school in Middlesex, the lovely Weald Rise Primary School. They wanted to give their children further opportunities to keep active during the school day and ended up with a set of amazing playground markings for the little ones. Here you can see how the whole process and how we helped them.
