Playground Markings in Shropshire
What are playground markings?
The term ‘playground markings’ refers to lines, images or designs that are found on playgrounds. They can be made using paint or environmentally friendly, non-toxic, pre-formed thermoplastic which is the material we use for the best finish. Our material is available in 18 bright colours enabling you to create an interesting, eye-catching space. Plus, they can be installed on many surfaces, including concrete and tarmac.
What makes playground markings so important for playgrounds?
Begin or continue an active lifestyle
Keeping children healthy is vital to their wellbeing and the best way to do that is to combine an active lifestyle with a healthy, balanced diet. In Shropshire, 24.7% of Reception children and 32.2% of Year Six children are either overweight, obese or severely obese, which can contribute to health complications in later life. Playground markings are a great way to engage in physical activities, in a way that is fun for the children, making them more likely to continue to use them.
Improve mental health
Breaks between lessons are fantastic for allowing the children to reset, let off some steam and spend time with their friends. In addition to this, physical activity outside has been shown to reduce stress, manage racing thoughts and improve sleep. You can also use playground markings to set up activities they will enjoy and to check in on their feelings.
Enhance safety
As mentioned above, the playground is the perfect place to get some fresh air, but it’s important to make sure that this can be done safely. You will be able to limit the number of accidents in the playground if you designate different areas for different games. For example, having sports courts, hopscotch and a racing track to stop those activities mingling with games like What’s the Time, Mr. Wolf and other, more calm games.
Some of our fantastic playground markings
Variety is a great starting place
If your playground is in a school, rather than in a park, you’ll want to include educational playground markings, as well as those that are geared towards sports, but don’t forget to include some fun games that can be used for playtime.
Younger children would enjoy
There are so many opportunities to provide learning experiences outside, like helping children to learn the time with our 24-Hour Clock, navigate the wider world with our world maps or learn more about road safety on our Roadway. In addition to these lessons, you can get children active with our Dance with Me Stations or Jump Game. Don’t forget to sprinkle in a little fun with a Twister game.
Older children would love
For older children, there are still some lessons that can be learnt outside, such as their times tables, or you can teach them the value in a healthy lifestyle by encouraging them to join the Mile a Day challenge. There are many sports that the children can learn for their fitness, for their enjoyment, and to destress (particularly around exam times).
There are so many playground markings that you could use to create an active, educational, and exciting area for your playground in Shropshire, so when you’re ready, get in touch with our friendly team for a quote.
