We installed a free Active Trail for Southampton Hospital School
Updated on: May 19, 2023
We installed a free Active Trail playground marking for the pupils at Southampton Hospital School after they were randomly selected as the winners of our competition.
At the beginning of this year, in an attempt to give back to local schools, we decided to launch a monthly competition and give away a free Active Trail playground marking worth £795. After picking winners from months February and March, it was time again to draw the winners for the April competition.
Following hundreds of entries for different schools by teachers, parents and friends alike, Southampton Hospital School were randomly selected as the lucky winners. They now join Elson Infant School and Locks Heath Infant School in receiving an awesome Active Trail for their pupils.
On Monday 5 July, our team attended the school to install their prize. School Business Officer, Joe Connelly, said, “We were surprised and delighted to hear that our school had won an activity trail from Fun & Active Playgrounds. The design team helped us to reimagine our outdoor space and together we have reinvigorated our playground to create an environment our pupils can explore and enjoy.”
“As one of the smallest schools in the city we are so thankful to have had this assistance to produce the playground that our pupils deserve. Our unique school exists to support pupils with medical conditions, including during their time in hospital. Based on a site where outdoor space is extremely precious, we truly value being able to offer all our students, from year R through to year 11, an engaging and fun outdoor space. Thank you Fun & Active Playgrounds!”
The colourful, 60m playground marking boasts a series of fun challenges from jumping, skipping and hopping, to crawling, balancing and sprinting – plenty to encourage children to get moving.
After the trail had been installed, we were able to meet some of the lovely children staying at the hospital and witness their first go at the activity.
We are delighted to have the opportunity to give back to another local school. The last 16 months have not been easy for anyone and with many of them spent in a lockdown, we realise it’s important for children to get back out into their playgrounds and keep active.
The competitions have really highlighted just how caring and thoughtful our community of teachers and parents are for nominating their chosen schools. We hope that our Active Trail will put smiles on the faces of those children attending for many years to come!
