What did the school want to achieve?
Our very own managing director, Dave, was on his own school run duties at Northern Federation Infant School when he noticed that the covid safety measures could be made much more effective. After giving feedback to the school as a parent, he met with Headteacher Rebecca for a site walk and to discuss options to improve the system. They agreed that the main outcome they wanted to achieve was a clearer, easier to manage one-way system to support parents in accessing the site safely.
How did we help them achieve their desired outcome? Were there any problems, and how did we overcome them?
The walk around the playground site with Dave gave Northern Federation Infant School the opportunity to express their key concerns as well as highlighting the main areas which were causing an issue with parents gathering.
Shortly after the initial meeting, the school received a site overview of the playground plans which matched their discussions perfectly! A number of directional social distance one-way markers were used with white dots to map out the route they wanted parents to take around the school. Yellow hatchings were used to prevent parents from gathering and crowding in small areas.
Not only did the school decide to have a number of social distance playground markers, but also a new, customised school logo for the entrance area to really enhance the welcome experience and make their school stand out.
Due to the school’s limited budget, we were pleased to be able to support them in making this project affordable.
Our comments on the finished playground
Northern Federation Infant School were a joy to work with. We loved coming up with an innovative solution to aid social distancing guidelines and support health and safety measures. It’s great that these markings will now be able to easily guide parents in and out of the school, at a safe distance from one another, during school pick-up and drop off times. We think the new school logo is brilliant and has really refreshed the welcome area!
