Playground Markings in Staffordshire
What are playground markings?
Playground markings are a way of creating shapes or activities on a playground, either for lessons, for use in sports or to play games. Our playground markings are made from non-toxic, pre-formed thermoplastic and they will last a long time in your Staffordshire playground. We offer 18 different colours so that you can create a space that suits your area the best.
Why are playground markings so good for playgrounds?
Maintain an active lifestyle
Having an active lifestyle is one of the ways you can prevent childhood obesity, which could lead to medical complications and issues in later life. When you combine regular exercise (even gentle exercise like walking) with a balanced diet, you will be able to reduce the risk of this happening to the children in your care. One way to get children active is to use fun playground markings that will make children more likely to exercise, like our Mile a Day playground marking. In Staffordshire, 28.5% of Reception children and 37.2% of Year Six children are overweight, obese or severely obese, which can be reduced with regular exercise in most cases.
Boost mental health
It is important to remember that children need breaks, and giving them some time outside with other playground activities will help to reduce stress, calm their thoughts and improve their sleep by wearing them out. Sadly, 50% of mental health problems are established by age 14 so the more you can do to support their mental health, the better the chances for their outcomes.
Safety
The playground is a brilliant place to be, they can talk to their friends, play games and enjoy a little break, but a chaotic playground is not the best place to be. Playground markings will help you to determine what games should be played in which area, so you don’t have to scoop up a ball that rolls through a running race or herd the skippers away from those looking at the plants. In addition to this, you can set out assembly zones and restricted areas using our playground markings.
Playground markings we love
Choose a variety for a successful playground
The playground’s users will all have different interests so the more you can cater for a variety of people, the more users your playground will have. There is some crossover in terms of the purposes of the markings – for example, basketball could be seen as educational and fun, in addition to being a physical activity – but where possible, you should try to include a range of playground markings that will either boost their learning opportunities, give them chances to be active and ones that are there for fun.
Playground markings for younger children
Take the children on an educational adventure by teaching them how to read a compass and sending them off on a treasure hunt (within the playground or grounds) that will have them changing directions when they reach certain points. For something active, consider our Build Your Own Trail option that will be a lot of fun for the children to be a part of.
Playground markings for older children
Older children can really benefit from getting into sports, from teaching them teamwork and healthy competitiveness, to getting active and thinking tactically, so give them a mixture of team and solo sports playground markings like tennis, football, cricket, capture the flag and King Square.
