Football pitch markings for a playground full of fun

Football is one of the most popular sports of our time, and in an age where technology is so often used, it’s very important to have games such as football to encourage children to play outside and socialise. Our Football Pitch Markings provide a well-defined area, where kids and adults alike can enjoy this much-loved sport.

Why football markings?

Football is a sport that can be played by boys and girls at any age. It’s fun, dynamic and modern. Many young children look up to professional football stars and dream to be like them one day, so encouraging them to play football will be both enjoyable and helpful for their development. Playing football will also help kids maintain a good physical and mental health, and due to its popularity, it proves to be an easy way for children to create new and lasting friendships.

It’s a great way for children to bond with their parents and other adults around them who enjoy playing the game. Plus, it’s beneficial for developing skills that are important for academic performance too.

Football and other team sports require concentration and determination throughout the whole game so as a result, children’s focus is constantly improving. They learn to pay more attention to what is happening around them and to always stay vigilant.

Football also enhances teamwork as it helps children to learn how to get through difficulties together and work as a team. It gives them a sense of belonging and helps them understand the people around them better. And even if the children want a change from football, the pitch playground markings can still be used for various other games.

Our playground markings are guaranteed to be long-lasting and durable, so children – present and future – can have the opportunity to play for a very long time. By adding pitch markings, you will make your playground much more appealing and fun for your pupils.

Why trust us?

We always make sure to use the best thermoplastic materials to ensure environmentally-friendly and durable markings. Our preformed thermoplastic is the best on the market and all our playground markings are water-jet cut so we can deliver the best value for money, durability and design.

5 Fun Games You Can Play On A Tennis Court

When we are thinking about dynamic and fun sports games, tennis often comes to the front of the mind, being so physically demanding yet enjoyable.

A tennis court, however, can be used for a multitude of other fun games as well, some of them being tennis variations. In this blog, we are going to take a look at 5 fun games you can play on a tennis court!

1. Badminton

Another super fun sport that will encourage children to move and have a blast at the same, time is badminton. While badminton courts are slightly different, a casual version of the game can easily be played on a tennis court too.

On tennis courts where the net can be elevated, it is even easier to achieve the full badminton experience, creating another entertaining, healthy sport that will improve the stamina and agility of your pupils.

You will need racquets, a shuttlecock, and a number of eager participants to join in on the fun!

2. Target Practice

Want to train your accuracy and aim? Set up some targets on the other side of the court. You can either create one big target or use smaller items to create a number of targets each worth different points.

Perfect for both solo and group play. More participants are always welcome and will make the game more exciting. Get your racquets ready and take turns going for all the targets. Whoever ends up taking down more on their try is the winner!

If your playground has the space for it, you could even invest in one of our vibrant target playground markings.

3. Dodgeball

Easily played with more than just four players and with no need for a racquet or a tennis ball. Make sure to take down the net and you are ready to go, as a tennis court has the perfect dimensions for a great game of dodgeball.

Reflexes, awareness, accuracy, and teamwork are some of the skills that dodgeball will help you to train. All you really need is enough people, as well as a ball which is easy enough to catch and throw!

4. Foot-Tennis

If you love football and tennis, you have to try this one. Instead of using a tennis ball and a racquet, simply grab your football and hop over to the closest tennis court.

The rules can be pretty much the same as tennis, however, you can use your feet, head, or torso to play the ball and send it on to the other side of the court, where the other team can let it bounce only once before returning it. You can modify the game even more, to the point where the ball cannot bounce on your side at all but allows more than a single touch of it with your foot instead.

You can play this with just two players and definitely with more than four. It’s a fantastic way to hone your passing skills as well as get active with your classmates and friends.

5. Line Tag

This is by far the simplest game on this list to play on a tennis court, as you don’t need anything specific to play it. Just like normal tag games, the goal is for ‘it’ to tag someone so they can take over their role.

In Line Tag though, the play area is marked by only the line of the tennis court, which makes the game even more interesting to play. You could make it possible to tag from across the lines for a more exciting experience, or, if you need more of a challenge, ‘it’ can tag players who are on the same lane as them. It’s a little like Pac-Man!

Those are a few of the fun games that you can enjoy on a tennis court if you don’t feel like playing tennis, or you simply do not have the right equipment. Be sure to check our selection for all kinds of top-quality thermoplastic playground markings, including tennis court line markings!

With most of them requiring little or no equipment, the fun is guaranteed, and in large amounts for everybody. Even adults can join in on it!

Sports games

While forming teams for favourite sports games can be a bit trickier, team sports are possibly the best type of playground games to teach children the value of good teamwork, sportsmanship, and leadership. Each of the different sports have multiple variations available that work with less participants too, so the group size doesn’t always matter.

Working together to achieve a common goal can create a strong bond between participants and the sports games could even help children find their passion. We have amazing playground markings for sports like tennis, football, basketball and cricket. Whether you’re inside or outside of class, you’ll see people playing these popular sports every day, wherever a playground or large green space is available. And the better the playground is marked, the more fun the game is!

If you are looking for new, fun ways to play your favourite sport, you can check out some of our ideas for basketball variations, as well as more upcoming ideas for different sports. You will love our durable sports markings too!

Target games

A little bit of healthy competition is something that should be actively encouraged in children. Plus, hand-eye coordination can be especially beneficial for youngsters to learn. Target games have been enjoyed in groups, not just on the playground, but in most game clubs and pubs too.

The number of players can be as high as you wish, and fun is always guaranteed with these highly customisable games. From regular Darts to Bowling, you can find the perfect target playground markings for your playground! Want to learn maths in the playground? Board games and mazes

Very beneficial for improvement of cognitive skills, useful for education, as well as pure fun, board games and mazes are great playground activities to play with more than just two players.

Board games have been a popular outdoor activity for a long time, often being more interactive than the original box game. Co-operate with your companions in a game of chess and instead of using pawns, play the part yourselves to include an even larger amount of players!

Mazes are also a great way for children to be active outside with their mates and embark on an adventure together. Will they compete to be the first one to get through the maze or will they form a team and help each other through? Either way mazes are perfect for groups.

Our maze playground markings on the other hand, will offer amazing themes and a complex network of corridors, for both the enjoyment of the students, as well as their urge for challenges!

These are just a few of the amazing games that you can consider for your children, pupils, or family members on the playground. How to Play Even More Classic Playground Games

Our series about fantastic classic playground games continues with two more amazing entries! “Hot Potato” and “Capture The Flag” are guaranteed to help children burn their energy, while growing healthier and happier with every second spent on the playground. In case you missed it, don’t forget to check out our first and second entries of our series to find out how to play even more classic playground games!

How to play Hot Potato

Hot Potato is a group game that can be played both indoors and outdoors. It is super easy to get into, can be modified to play in different ways, and without a doubt guarantees tons of fun for everybody! Apart from bringing lots of smiles, this game also improves children’s reactions, general body control, concentration, and prediction skills.

In order to play Hot Potato, you will need at least two friends to join you, a music source and an object that is easy to hold, pass, and throw, playing the role of a “Hot Potato”. Some great options for your “potato” are footballs, bean bags, or tennis balls.

The aim of the game is to make sure you are not left holding the “potato” when the music stops – which happens at the end of each round – in order to make it to the end and win the game.

Before you start, one person must be selected to be in charge of stopping and starting the music. You and the rest of your friends will then form a circle, passing the “potato” from one person to the other, while the music is playing. The “potato” can be thrown in any direction in the circle and doesn’t have to be passed clockwise or anti-clockwise.

When the chosen person stops the music, whoever is last holding the “potato” gets “burned” and drops out of the game, marking the end of a round. A new round then begins, eventually leading to another participant, who was holding the “potato” last, dropping out. The rounds continue until there is only one player remaining and they become the winner!

How to play Capture the Flag

Capture the Flag is a very fun and active game, which is beneficial for developing teamwork and coordination skills as well as actively promoting physical health.

There are a multitude of variations of this game, but in general the goal is to capture the flag of the other team and bring it to your own side of the field, while defending your own flag.

Setup:

  1. First, split your children into two teams. An even number of players is preferred, but the more people you have, the greater the fun!
  2. Within a standard game of Capture the Flag, no matter if the play area has defined borders or is an open space, each team will have:
  • at least one flag or an item representing one.
  • at least one zone where the flag is kept.
  • a “jail”, where captured members of the opposing team can be brought.

Teams should evenly split the play area, form their territories and mark where each zone is, or simply use objects within the play area as zones (e.g. trees or benches).

Basic Rules:

  1. Get the flag of the opposing team to your own area to win!
  2. Once you enter the “enemy” area, you can be tagged. You are completely safe in your own team area.
  3. Once tagged, you can either be brought to the jail zone of the opposing team or be frozen on the spot that you were tagged at. In either case, a team member needs to save you before you can resume playing.
  4. Once you are saved, you must go back to your team area before trying to capture the flag or save again. On your way back to your own team area, you cannot tag or be tagged.
  5. The teammate who does the saving is not immune to being tagged.
  6. Enemy team flag zones are safe zones for you, so you cannot be tagged within them.

Make sure to check out our Capture The Flag thermoplastic playground markings, as well as the abundance of other durable and vibrant designs for playground games in our range of playground markings for schools!

Playground activities for teenagers

Playground activities for teenagers

Teenagers are sometimes overlooked when it comes to the playground. Many sites only have equipment that is suitable for those who are 12 and under so there’s not always a lot for teenagers to do. This is true of both schools and public playgrounds. However, it doesn’t have to remain that way! Discover our top picks for playground activities for teenagers.

Sports markings

Sports playground markings are perfect for teenagers because all they need to get going will be minimal equipment (like balls and bats) and a decision on teams. Teenagers can be independent enough to run their own games, which means that they can be free to have fun with their friends and not need someone watching over them as closely. Some of our popular sports court markings include basketball, football, netball, tennis and capture the flag. These sports are perfect for improving co-ordination, strategic thinking, teamwork, and even inspiring a bit of healthy competition.

Firfield-Primary-School-Court-Playground-Marking DBD-Play-Court-Playground-Marking

Assault courses

Assault courses are great for improving strength and agility, making them a popular choice for all ages. If your playground is open to both younger and older children, you may wish to have separate assault courses for different ages, which can be scaled up or scaled down versions of each other. The assault course doesn’t have to be high off the ground to be interesting, you can build your own trail with our playground markings and it will still get their hearts pumping! Teenagers may not be as worried about the crocodiles, but they will definitely get a lot of physical activity out of it! Don’t forget, you can make the assault course harder by challenging everyone to beat their personal best or to be more technically precise with their movements.

Exercise equipment

Some parks are starting to introduce public exercise equipment that is suitable for both adults and teenagers, so where you can include these, it would be a fantastic idea. You can also achieve results if you use our circuit training playground markings, as the same muscle groups worked by the equipment can also be targeted through activities like lunges and squats.

Seating and board games area

Part of taking a break can be simply sitting and talking to friends so don’t forget to include an area where they can sit and relax. A bit of shelter would also be ideal, given the ever-changeable weather in the UK!

If your playground is in a school, there may not be time at lunch for a full game of Monopoly (and perhaps that game might not be a good idea if you want them to be on speaking terms afterwards) but some newer board games are a lot shorter and work well for break times. We have some amazing board game playground markings that are sure to liven up their day like Twister, Chess and Snakes and Ladders.
