We’ve committed to offsetting our carbon emissions
Updated on: March 12, 2024
As a business, we know we have a responsibility to play a part in protecting our planet and we have decided to make our first steps into operating more sustainably. With an aim of achieving carbon neutrality by 2022, we’re now working together with Carbon Footprint to help us get there.
We’ve introduced a tree planting initiative, whereby for every playground we transform or project we complete, we will donate trees to be planted at schools across the country. By doing so, we are also helping to fund an important Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) approved project in Brazil to prevent deforestation in the Amazon Rainforest.
This makes us the first and currently only UK playground marking company to commit to offsetting our carbon emissions!
The Amazon is the largest remaining rainforest on the planet, with incredible biodiversity and many endangered species. For every tree planted in the UK, a tonne of carbon will be saved in the Amazon Rainforest. Plus, the trees will help to protect our native wildlife and habitats.
Whilst the change needed to combat the current environmental challenges is huge, we have made careful calculations for our annual CO2 emissions so we know how much we need to offset each year.
Schools are also able to get involved by applying for our donated trees to be planted at their site. This provides a great outdoor, hands-on activity for pupils and helps to raise awareness of the importance of protecting our planet. It can also contribute to team building and social skills, plus assist with school subjects such as science.
Our company director, Greg, says “We’re delighted to have started our journey to becoming carbon neutral with the help of Carbon Footprint and it’s amazing to be able to give schools the opportunity to take part in this initiative with us. We hope that by introducing this scheme, it will encourage other businesses to do the same.”
