Whitgreave Primary School, West Midlands
What did the school want to achieve?
The playground at Whitgreave Primary School had become very tired after many years of use and so they wanted to redesign the area to be colourful, vibrant and engaging. Their objectives were to promote outdoor learning across the curriculum, enhance PE lessons, and increase physical activity during lunchtimes and breaktimes. This was important to Whitgreave as their playground is one of the school’s main focal points and also one of the first things parents see when they drop their children off at school.
How did we help them achieve their desired outcome? Were there any problems, and how did we overcome them?
We were happy to meet with PE & Maths Leader, Alex, in person to discuss options and work with his team at Whitgreave on their design remit. During the meeting, our playground specialist, Connor, suggested different ideas to suit the school’s needs. Soon after consultation, playground plans were shared with Alex and we made any adaptations and changes the school required as their ideas evolved.
On the day of install, our experienced team worked with Alex making sure he was happy with exactly where the markings were being placed and making any small alterations from the original plan that were requested. This ensured that positioning of lines and areas suited their needs as a school as well as maintaining the overall aesthetics of the playground.
The unique surface of the playground presented a minor issue with the installation of the lines but we were able to provide support and quickly solve the problem on the day.
Our comments on the finished playground
We are over the moon with how colourful and refreshed the playgrounds look. It was great to be able to use such a wide variety of different markings and see them all come to life with this project. There’s now a host of educational and engaging games and activities that children can take part in and benefit from, both physically and mentally. Whitgreave Primary School were a pleasure to work with and we very much enjoyed helping them to transform their play areas and make their ideas a reality.
