Bagshot Infant School, Surrey
What did the school want to achieve?
When discussing with Pippa she explained to us how the playground had become very worn and tired over the years. During our initial visits to the school it was easy to see that the playground had become lifeless with minimal activities for the children to use during their playtimes. Pippa explained to us how she wanted to create a vibrant and inviting play space for the children which would open lots of opportunities for different games and activities.
How did we help them achieve their desired outcome? Were there any problems, and how did we overcome them?
The opportunity of working at Bagshot Infant School was exciting for us. This school had a small playground with a few existing markings. Our aim was to make the playground vibrant and provide various different games and exercises for the children to use during their break-times. The way we achieved this was by suggesting a range of games to test the children’s cognitive skills and fitness. The main games that tested these skills were our circular maze and active spot circuit. We also suggested some fun games for the children that are brilliant at helping create new friendships between children. These included Duck Duck Goose and Mr Wolf.
During the survey, Pippa expressed to us how she wanted to make the playground as bright and new as possible. This meant we had to figure out the best way to either re-develop or remove the older existing markings. We suggested a variety of different methods to the school to overcome this problem. The school decided they liked the option that included our Methyl Methacrylate paint. This paint is used to cover the existing markings creating a bold background for the new games. We suggested to Pippa that a black background with a rocket hopscotch and stars would cover the old markings and provide an amazing effect keeping well within her budgets. The original design we created for Pippa included a huge variety of markings which we like to call her “wishlist”. Pippa made various changes until they found their perfect design.
During the installation the school were so pleased with the project so far, that they spoke with one of our team leaders to propose remarking the existing. Our team leader was more than happy to assist Pippa and quickly arranged for the roadway to be added into the project, further helping to freshen the play space.
Our comments on the finished playground
Bagshot infant school was a lovely project that we thoroughly enjoyed working with, from the initial visits discussing the ideas the school had, to finally seeing the completed project. We feel the school have more than achieved their desired outcome in brightening up the space and have certainly added a new feel to the playground. The project has added a huge amount of colour and fun activities for the children to indulge in. Overall, we are very happy with the final result and hope the children enjoy the markings for the many years to come.
Testimonial from the school
“We are so pleased with our playground markings. It was a pleasure to work with Connor and the guys throughout the process. The guys were on time and made a great job of our markings. They helped with the best location for certain games and provided us with an aerial view of the playground. They were polite and left our playground clean and looking rejuvenated. Highly recommend.”
