Playground Markings in Northamptonshire
What are playground markings?
Playground markings are created using preformed thermoplastic lines or drawings that are traditionally in bright colours and are for sports, education and entertainment. We have a wide range of playground markings available in 18 fantastic colours that make setting up a lesson, game or match quick and easy.
Why are playground markings good for playgrounds?
Maintain an active lifestyle
Getting active is important for a child’s health and getting into a good routine early can help prevent any health complications later in life. A report by Public Health Northamptonshire found that 22.6% of children in Reception were overweight or obese, with that figure going up to 34.3% for Year 6 pupils. Getting active doesn’t have to be a chore though, as our games and sports markings can make this enjoyable, as well as helping to teach them valuable skills.
Boost their mental health
10% of children aged between five and sixteen have a ‘clinically diagnosable mental problem’, according to MentalHealth.org so it’s important to help children take care of their mental health from a young age. This can be simple things like checking in with children on how they’re feeling or creating a space outside where they can get some fresh air and let off some steam. Playground markings provide games and activities that will help children to de-stress – thanks to the release of cortisol and feel-good hormones – as well as reduce anxiety and sleep better.
Keep safety as a priority
Playgrounds can get very busy at playtime and that’s totally normal but you’re going to need to keep your racers away from your skippers and jumpers or you’ll have a tangled mess. Playground markings give you a way to keep those games separate, while still giving each the right amount of space to have fun. You can even have markings to direct students to important assembly areas or to mark places off limits.
What playground markings we’d choose
Variety is the key to a good playground
It’s certainly possible to include activities that combine education, fun and physical activity but it’s important to make sure that you are able to hit all of those targets – whether combined or individually – when creating your playground. We helped a primary school in Northampton to create a playground that could be used by every child and would encourage co-operative and collaborative play. We did this by installing our Twister, Snakes & Ladders, What’s the Time, Mr Wolf?, King Square and Dance With Me playground markings. For good a physical activity, we included our Race Trail and to help with learning numbers, we included Hopscotch.
Younger children would enjoy
Children learn well through play so any opportunity that you can give them to do that will be fantastic. We have Times Table Hopscotch to help them learn those important sums, as well as the Solar System and Under the Sea Phonics. Give them a well-deserved break as well, with our Jurassic Maze Puzzle, Roadway and our Snakes and Ladders 1-36 game.
Older children would get a lot out of these markings
Help your older students stay active with these games and sports that will also build their teamwork skills and coordination. A great way to start off is with sports courts like tennis, netball and basketball, which we can combine into one area if you have concerns about your amount of space. You can also mix this up with our Snakes and Ladders 1-100 game, as well as chess and King Square.
